Mission trip · Havana & Viñales, Cuba

Clean water and the gospel in Cuba.

We serve in and around Viñales with our church leaders in very poor areas. Families have little economic opportunity and a great need for clean water. Viñales, in western Cuba, is the heart of the country's tobacco industry.

Meals are served at a local restaurant and are delicious. Some distribution days, sandwich lunches are packed to go.

How it works

Every filter goes out through the local church.

Our model is wonderfully unique:

  1. Our local church partners prepare the neighborhoods and families your team will visit.
  2. You split into small groups, each paired with a translator and someone from the church.
  3. You give each family a water filter, a New Testament, and a chance to hear how much God loves them.
  4. The local church follows up with every family and disciples those who pray to receive Christ.

Common questions

Before you go.

Who would I travel with?

Join a team that's already going, or pull together your own team of at least 12 from your campus, church, organization, family, or friends. Corporate teams, women's trips, fathers and sons, and high school or college groups all go.

When could I go?

How fast can you pack? Seriously, choose dates that work for you and we'll do our best to fit your schedule. Can't go for a week? Ask us about a mid-week or long weekend trip.

What does a typical day look like?

Mornings and afternoons, you'll get to know families in our church partners' communities, give them a water filter, and share the gospel. Evenings, your team talks through how the Lord is working. We always add a few surprises so you can experience the local culture.

What is the housing like?

All housing is clean and secure, in safe neighborhoods. Most bedrooms have air conditioning, the food is safe and delicious, dietary needs can be met, and we supply plenty of clean water.

Will I have help with the details?

Absolutely. A Filter of Hope trip planner walks you through each step, and a Filter of Hope staff member is in-country with your team. We even give you tools and tips to raise money for your trip.

What results can I expect?

Hundreds of people will have clean drinking water at home for the next 10 years, and many will come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Your team will grow close, grow confident in sharing their faith, and carry new excitement for ministry home. Oh, and you can bet your life will change, too.
